Mo-Sci receives state technology award from Holden

MO-SCI Corporation receives state technology award from Governor Bob Holden. Governor Holden presented the 2003 Governor’s Technology Award to MO-SCI Corporation of Rolla during the awards program at the 45th Annual Governor’s Business Development Conference at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at Lake Ozark.

The Governor’s Technology Award is presented to a company that has developed a new technology and has adopted or applied innovative manufacturing processes or business practices. MO-SCI Corporation manufactures glass-based products serving niche markets. The company actually grew out of research being conducted at the University of Missouri-Rolla. MO-SCI is known most for producing TheraSphere®, a glass sphere that can be radiated to treat cancer. To accommodate growth, the company is planning the construction of a new larger facility adjacent to the existing one. “We congratulate all of the winners for their outstanding economic development efforts and for being recognized by Governor Holden,” said Department of Economic Development Director Joseph L. Driskill. “These companies and organizations demonstrate the dedication to their communities, their workforce and the State of Missouri that is going to help our economy get back on track.”
