Leonard Wood Institute awards Ribbon Composites for Optical Transparent Armour Window

A 12-month project is described herein whose objective is to (a) assess the ballistic impact resistance of a laminated armor window that includes a high-strength glass-ribbon composite spall-shield, and (b) modify and improve current process for manufacturing glass ribbons for optically transparent glass-ribbon composite (OTRC) panels. One prototype armor window 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm (12”x12”) will be submitted monthly to Loki Inc. (subcontractor) during ten months for ballistic tests (R3 test). LWI will be provided quarterly technical reports, a final technical report, and a 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm (12”x12”) prototype armor window and its data sheet.
