Chemically Durable Glass MicrospheresDuraSpheres are glass microspheres made from a chemically durable borosilicate glass and are available in varying grades and size ranges. Standard sizes range from 30 µm to 150 µm, but other sizes are available on request. Some typical uses range from growth media for hydroponics, bond-line spacing control, property enhancement fillers in coatings and electronic components. Because of their excellent sphericity and closely controlled sizing, DuraSpheres form excellent filter beds where their high purity and outstanding chemical durability in aqueous media are of prime importance. Due to their low alkali content, DuraSpheres have a high electrical resistance and can be used at temperatures above 1200°F. DuraSpheres can be given a variety of surface treatments to make their surface hydrophobic, hydrophilic, etc. DuraSpheres are also used as analytical standards because of their stability and availability in precisely controlled diameters. DuraSpheres are supplied free from contamination and typically are >95% in a designated size range and >95% true spheres. DuraSpheres are available in custom or bulk packaging. |  |
